Common Questions
-
How much will my website cost?
The final cost depends on the scope of the project. Very simple one-page sites start at $1,450. Before we start, we’ll work together to figure out what’s needed, get a plan together, and agree on a final price. No surprises!
-
Why don’t you charge hourly?
We find that charging per-project better aligns incentives for everyone. It encourages us to maintain project scope, think of client costs up-front, and operate efficiently while not worrying about spending extra time to ensure quality when we need to.
-
Will I maintain control of my website?
Always. Our goal is empowering organizations. We’ll never hold your site hostage like so many other web service companies like Wix or SquareSpace. All clients receive a briefing guide at the end of the project that contains all the info required to (with a little work!) understand their site. It can also be given to another developer if you chose to hire someone else.
-
Who will maintain my site?
That is up to you! We’re happy to help show you how to maintain your own site. And we are available to handle that for you as well. Through our membership option, clients receive standard maintenance and upkeep (and more!) for $100/mo.
-
Will you show me how to use my site?
Absolutely! We’re more than happy to help anyone interested how to maintain their own website.
-
What’s your background? Is it computer science or development?
Nope. We are aviators first. The strength we provide is combining comfort with technology—the fundamentals of WordPress, CSS, HTML and some Javascript and PHP—with writing, design, and aviation. This is why we tell non-aviation clients that they will likely be better served elsewhere!
-
How does this compare to self-service options?
Our services cost more up-front, but have comparable monthly costs. With our services you maintain the flexibility to keep your site but change hosts or design teams. And you have more design, and functional flexibility.
-
Can you improve my existing site?
Yes, but: depending on the condition of your site, it is often cheaper and more effective to have us re-build it.
-
Will my website go down while you work on it?
No. We create your new site on a separate server, and only bring it over when we’re both happy with the result! There is a small downtime when we actually bring over the new site, but it’s usually well-under 24 hours.
-
What does the whole process look like?
Generally, we start by identifying your specific needs. Then we agree on a price, and a timeline, invoice for a 30% deposit, and then we get started. As we get close to a finished product we will send it to you for input and a single revision. After that, we’ll incorporate revisions, test, and launch the website! We keep you in the loop each step of the way.
-
Just one revision?
We are pretty liberal with our revision process. However, we maintain a policy of a single revision because rare clients can runaway with revisions. When you need minor things changed, we will take care of it no questions asked.
